A Rather good story
Recipe
to success or madness
Mix together in a big bowl:
A small loan from the government
A whole Lot of shopping for equipment and tools
A smatter of blood, sweat and tears
Add an electrician and a gas safe plumber.
Set aside and wait for six months to brew.
Once ready, throw in a sprinkle of official paperwork, and a 5 star food hygiene rating,
Mix well again and serve right away.
A mad Mr Dan, thought he would like to be a Potato Man, so set out to find a way to get started.
But how?
Then one day an invisible but visible piece of paper floated down from the sky, it simply did or didn’t have a recipe on it.
Mr Dan pondered and wondered as to whether to make the is or isn’t recipe or not.
He had decided not, until a friend said he would join him on this journey.
Vlad and Mr Dan worked together to make the recipe work, they mixed and moulded, kneaded and pounded the potato van into completion.

What Began as a thought has evolved into something Else. I am proud and even more excited for what’s ahead.
What sets us apart from other street food is our quintessentially british appeal, with high quality homemade toppings, perfectly baked potatoes,
Big Ideas,
Real Impact.
Sustainability and saving the planet is at the heart of everything we do here at The Rather Good Spud Co.
Our Spud Wagon (although currently towed with a diesel vehicle) is totally self sufficient and can run off-grid.
We utilise solar power where we can to power the fridges and most of our electrcity needs. For our cookers and warmers we use LPG gas.
Our generator also runs on LPG, we use this for topping up the battery and for a couple of hours a day while we are using our higher power items like our electric hobs to prepare our delicious toppings.
We opted for gas equipment instead of a petrol generator because LPG has a cleaner burn with substantially less harmful emissions. It also makes the generator run a little bit quieter, which is a bonus.
Our planet saving doesn’t stop there,
our packaging is compostable or recyclable, our cutlery is made from sustainable wood and also can be composted.
we recycle whatever we can from packaging to paperwork, even the foil your potatoes are baked in!
We aim to source our ingredients as locally as possible and are committed to improve this as we grow. We feel like part of the local community wherever we go and love to support local businesses and producers.
It’s also about doing the small things, from reducing car journeys to being mindful about anything we produce, reducing food waste,
We do what we can, where we can and are always open to new ideas.
